Which Class Is Right For Me?

We get many calls requesting advice on which of the two sailing classes are appropiate for their skill level.  Often people have some sailing experience and are not sure where to start.

We have two sailing courses available, the Basic Keelboat Course and the Basic Coastal Cruising Course.  You can also register for the two courses together for an additional savings.

Here is a breif summary of the two courses:

Basic Keelboat Sailing

• Designed for people with very little or no sailing experience who wish to learn to be able to help crew a boat
• Theory #1
• Practical Sessions #1, #2 & #3
• The main thrust of this course if to train the student how to "Head Up', "Bear Away", "Tack" and "Gybe", so if you already know how to do these maneuvers, you do not need to take this course.
• The ASA Basic Keelboat Certification available upon completion

Basic Coastal Cruising

• Designed for people who already know how to "Head Up', "Bear Away", "Tack" and "Gybe", but would like the experience and certification necessary to be able to bareboat charter in either teh Rocky Mountain are or othere sailing destinations, such as Florida, the Virging Islands or the Pacific Northwest
• Theories #1, #2 & #3
• Practical Sessions #4, #5 & #6
• The main thrust of this course is to give the student the experience necessary to be able to bareboat charter either our or other companies boats .
• The ASA Basic Coastal Cruising Certification is available upon completion

The Combined Course

• Designed for people with very little or no sailing experience who wish to learn to be able to help crew a boat
• Theories #1, #2 & #3 (the first theory is the same for both courses)
• Practical Sessions #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 & #6
• The main thrust of this course is to give the student the experience necessary to be able to bareboat charter either our or other companies boats .
• Both the ASA Basic Keelboat and Basic Coastal Cruising Certification are available upon completion
