Fly The Kite Mate

Of all the excitement that can be generated sailing, there is little to rival the thrill of

FLYING THE KITE (Spinnaker to North Americans)

With a few short classes we can make you feel at home with this unrivaled downwind sail.

Spinnaker Sessions are held at Denver's Cherry Creek Reservoir on stable, sloop rigged keelboats (such as the J/22) starting May 17, 2007. Since Cherry Creek gets the most constant breeze, we feel this location is perfect for the spinnaker classes, providing access to practice areas without the shifting winds associated with the reservoirs closer to the foothills.

Standard format will be to use the spinnaker to work your way downwind and then use the engine to power back upwind to get as much time as possible with the spinnaker.

What you will learn:

  • How to rig the boat for spinnakers
  • Different methods of raising the spinnaker
  • Gybing the spinnaker
  • Rounding the Marks
  • Different methods of dousing the spinnaker
  • Man Overboard with the spinnaker
  • Trimming for the Maximum Boat Speed

1 - Three (3) Hour Dry Land Theory Sessions

2 Three (3) Hour Practical Sessions

Cost - $149.00
